Dannielle Sergent is an artist working in various media, from built form (architecture and interior projects) to the olfactory arts (perfume) and at Art Explosion in oil and mixed media. In each of these disciplines she explores the tension and harmony between the natural and the man made.
In her paintings it is the tension between delicate flowers and the machined objects that hold them in place in unnatural arrangements. Each painting focuses on a flower, or group of flowers, held in suspension with pins, rings and wires. The tension between the fragile flowers and the metal that pierces and pulls is visceral; and yet the flower is always the star.
In the latest paintings the flowers form faces. Some are easy to see, others more difficult.
