Artist Statement:
My work examines the social constructions of idealized beauty and the value assigned to it by transforming discarded materials. These materials, forgotten and of no value are turned into valuable, seductively beautiful objects alive and rich with texture. By creating complex, multi-layered, sculptural paintings that both reveal and mask what is beneath the surface, I hope to provoke the question: what constitutes beauty?
